Traces of wind

Any visit to Death Valley National park isn't complete until you go to Mesquite dunes. Even though walking on sand with all the gear is annoying (add to that strong winds blowing sands in your nose, ears), the patterns on the dunes make it really worth it.

In order to find a pristine spot, one has to walk a lot if starting from the parking lot area - since there are too many footsteps around the parking lot area. There is a trail-head (36.616285, -117.071825) ~2.5 miles from parking lot of mesquite sand dunes (towards Beatty Junction), from where such pristine spots can be found without walking too much on sand.
