Tomopteris septentrionalis
There are several species of this free swimming worm, though one thing they all have in common is the ability to secrete a bioluminescent fluid from glands at the tip of their appendages. The purpose of this light is still a mystery. The colouration of Tomopteris species varies from transparent to red, orange and violet depending on nutrition.
