Thollamina pampino
Also known collectively as ‘domed anemones’, species of Thollamina are curious creatures that protrude armoured plates as well as tentacles. The tentacles of Thollamina pampino are drawn up into a tight, wispy bundle, allowing it to feed even when its armour plating is retracted. Like all sea anemones, Thollamina pampino has nematocysts containing poison potent enough to immobilize small fish and crustaceans.
Photographic etching on handmade paper, approx 17 x 25cm
