Canadian Forces - Exercise MAPLE RESOLVE 2014 (Wainwright, Alberta)
Soldiers of the 1st Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment, Charles Company from Garrison Petawawa are preparing for night operations at dusk in the Garrison Wainwright training area on 25 May 2014, during Exercise MAPLE RESOLVE 14.
Approximately 5 000 military personnel are participating in Exercise MAPLE RESOLVE 14 (Ex MR 14), held at Garrison Wainwright, Alberta, from May 5 to June 1, 2014. As the largest Canadian Army exercise this year, it is a culminating collective training event to validate both of the Canadian Army's High Readiness task forces. Ex MR 14 includes Full Spectrum Operations, including tactical moves, deliberate attacks, mobile defense and assistance to Non-Governmental Organizations.
Drawn primarily from units of 2 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group from Garrison Petawawa, Ontario, and these task forces will be on call at a momentís notice to deploy on international operations as assigned by the Government of Canada.
Ex MR 14 includes close to 4 000 Canadian Army soldiers, 450 Royal Canadian Air Force members, 450 American troops, and 100 soldiers from the United Kingdom.
