PS Waverley (1947)
On the way back from our trip to the Redsands forts, our Captain kindly waited for PS Waverley to pass. Waverley is the last sea going paddle steamer in the world and she was on the last trip of the season, from Southend to Whitstable, before heading back to her winter berth in Glasgow. As she was a little late leaving Southend she went past us at aound 16 knots, far outpacing the X-Pilot on which we were sailing. A wonderful sight. The red and white flag above her wheelhouse indicates that there is a pilot on board.
Lots more detail when viewed large.
