A Jungle Huntsman Spider (Heteropoda sp.) predating on a freshly emerged Darwin Cicada (Macrotristria doddi).

I set out on a night trek through the monsoon forests of Darwin last month with one photo target, this cicada! It is common around Darwin around the new year when the wet season has fully kicked in. Taking advantage of the emerging cicadas was this Jungle Huntsman! I was quite shocked coming across this scene as it is a large meal for the spider.
