Male Adders

Anyone that knows me will know that I am somewhat terrified of snakes so when I decided it was time to push the boat out and photograph some British snakes that will have come as a big surprise. So on Sunday, off I went to the Mendips in the hope of finding a few. Well it turned out to one of the coldest days in the year and I thought that there would be no chance. After some time looking everywhere I did eventually find a female and then a bit later a male with two females nearby. It turned out to be great morning and I shall certainly go back in the hope a seeing a few more.

These snakes are extremely difficult to photograph as they rarely seem to come out into the open. They can also feel, smell, taste, see and hear any passer by and will quickly disappear if disturbed.
