April 2013, the demolition of St. Marys Paper mill continues. Most of the production buildings have been razed. Salvage and recycling of the building materials continues. The historic sandstone buildings will be saved and redeveloped. August 2012, demolition has begun on the non historic buildings / structures. It appears that the 'historic' original sandstone buildings will be spared for future redevelopment.
June 2012, the paper mill has been sold, assets will be liquidated, and the mill site will be redeveloped, for other uses, some buildings will be razed. After nearly one hundred years of operation under various names, Lake Superior Paper Company, Abitibi Power and Paper Company, St. Marys Paper Inc., the paper mill is no more.
