international railroad bridge / st. marys river

The International Railroad Bridge was built in 1887 by the Dominion Bridge Company Limited from Lachine, Quebec. The bridge, a Camelback Truss design, consists of nine spans across the St. Mary's River / St. Marys Rapids, and features pinned and riveted connections, a-frame portal bracing, V-lacing support through out, cut stone abutments and piers. The bridge was originally built by the Canadian Pacific Railroad Company and is now owned by the Canadian National Railway Company.

 

The bridge connects Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. The bridge was originally built by the Canadian Pacific Railroad Company and is now owned by the Canadian National Railway Company.
