Bleeding Kansas

Bleeding Kansas- As a result of the Kansas Nebraska Act, many anti-slavery believers and the pro-slavery believers went on violent conflict. One of the key events was when Preston Brooks, the senate and democratic congressman of South Carolina, severely beat Charles Sumner, the senate of Massachusetts, for using insulting language about Preston’s pro-slavery proposition. Such violent events continued for many months until the governor of that region came in to settle down the conflicts. This was a major event that caused Civil War since it brought a serious hostility between the anti-slavery and pro-slavery believers.
