47500 derailed and caught fire at Windsor Bridge Junction, Salford between Salford Crescent & Deansgate whilst working the 5Z47 Ardwick to Carnforth empty stock move on Wednesday January 23rd having taken 5 coaches for tyre turning at Siemens / TPE Ardwick depot.
As of the date taken RAIB's investigation were still ongoing with a lot of speculation about the cause.
The line between Manchester Picc, Ox Rd, Deansgate - Salford Crescent was blocked for several days
47500 was new as D1943 in 1966 - named Great Western at Old Oak Common in 1979 - laterly 47770 in RES Rail Express Systems livery - Named Reserved at Crewe Diesel TMD in 1994
