Seraphim IV

The F/E-100 Seraphim IV is the premier Air/Space Superiority Fighter of the Alliance.

The Seraphim IV, also named Super Seraphim is a direct descendant of the Seraphim II and III. It is larger than the previous designs, requiring more hangar space, but features two engines instead of one, and a significantly increased operational range and armament capacity. It does share several key design features, including an integrated internal shielded weapons bay, forward facing "interceptor" style cockpit, and a powerful sensing, communications, and electronic warfare (SCEW) suite.

The Seraphim IV has improved aerodynamics and handling in atmosphere than previous designs thanks to larger control surfaces and redesigned wing geometry. The delta wing design with large empennage gives the fighter stability during atmospheric re-entry, while also granting excellent maneuverability in the lower atmosphere. The IV's dual engines give the fighter extra power during a dogfight, while remaining efficient enough to drop from orbit into combat and fly back to the carrier vessel without necessitating external fuel storage or refueling for shorter missions. The craft’s large wings give it excellent lift, allowing for heavier weapons loads and numerically more mounting hardpoints under the wings for thermally shielded munitions. The internal weapons bay is also made larger than earlier iterations, allowing for more unshielded weaponry to be carried internally.

The Seraphim's primary armament is one 25mm cannon and an internal weapons bay capable of carrying a variety of munitions.

The airframe featured here is in the standard Alliance Navy paint scheme of dull grey multi-spectral-absorbent paint with dark “Alliance Blue” highlights on the empennage and main intakes. It is common for units to develop their own unique paint schemes, such as the famous black and red of the “Black Widows,” First Squadron, 3rd Cambrian Fighter Group, or the gaudy orange and grey of the Second Squadron 90th Ardennian Fighter Group, the “Bengals.”
