I like this shot a lot, and I am somehow unable to say exactly why. It got some sort of weird angles in it, and part of the photo allmost looks like it could have been shot with a pinhole camera. I like the way the houses seem to lean out in the street, and allso the DOF in the street allmost split in half of the right edge of the photo. There is something with the lines and the composition in this one that just call for my attention.

This one is fun! Joeri has been inside a lighthouse, and I can understand the reason why he had to give it a try. First I thought that it's a shame that the center of the lighthouse is not in the center of the shot, to capture more of a symetry, but after looking at it for a while I think that he has done the right thing... ofcourse. We would have seen less of the wall in the lower left of the picture, and I think that this wall breaks up the photo in some way. The bars that supports the stairs are making this kind of extreme leading line towards the top, and they allso go together to make this cross in the center ring... it makes my head spinning :)

Allmost every pixel in this shot is leading you towards the tower of this castle... a tower that luckily enough is rised high enough to be the highest point of the picture.
The bridge, the skies, the reflections of the skies in the water, the hills in the background and the slope from the water up to the castle... even the seaweed is leading you into this picture and towards that proud old building.
A very good composition in my opinion!

I had to include this one.
First of all it's a lovely shot with great contrasts and tones, and secondly it was apparantly shot allmost right outside my front door. I think I would use less than a minute to walk from home to this location.
I love the way the keel of the boat is making some kind of a leading line down towards the pond, and allso ofcourse the way the snow and ice are adding to the lovely contrasts in this shot.

Having a gallery called "Lovely B&W", I can't leave this shot behind.
It was shot on large format film on Westray in the Orkney Islands, and I just love every nuance and shade of gray and black in this shot. It is absolutely perfectly exposed to get that right feeling and atmosphere. When you see this you will discover why B&W should be shot on film and not digital... Just look at those fantastic grains in that sky... Silver rules!
It's simply a Masterpiece!
