Giant Chess game!

The first warm spring day of 2012 in Galway, Ireland :-)

 

I was lucky enough to have the entire day free to enjoy the wonderful weather. As I had a few bills to pay and grocery shop to do, I headed into town in a fabulous mood (mundane jobs are so much more fun on a warm day!!) I am not sure why, maybe it is 'growing up', but I was saddened to see so many people sitting outside pubs drinking (happily, and having fun, but nevertheless) that can be done at any time (granted, maybe not sitting outside, but you know!) But as I walked out of town and towards the sea shore, there was a totally different atmosphere. One of the nice things I came across was a group of people playing chess, with large chess pieces! I sat and watched for at least an hour, and when each game was completed a new person walking past would join in! This is what summer time is all about, meeting people and having fun...and guess what...it can be done away from pubs!!! :-)
