Cefn Onn 4501
A view northwards from the hills above Cefn Onn Park, on an evening stroll from Heath Park to Caerphilly over the mountain.
The hilltop on the other side of the valley shows the extent of the spoil dumped from local mining, both on the left and, even more so, on the right. Several million tons of colliery waste has completely changed the profile of the hilltop, whilst terraces of waste feature on the right, the output of Bedwas Colliery, which was in production from 1912/3 to 1985.
The habitation is Bedwas, a village virtually contiguous with Caerphilly off to the left of the photo. This is the valley of the Afon Rhymni / River Rhymney.
