Shrewsbury 030519 861
The Welsh Marches. Shrewsbury.
This is Castle Gates House, Shrewsbury, a Grade !!* Listed 16th century house that was moved here in 1702, although it has been updated and extended, with a substantial restoration around 1912. The fact that is was moved (from a quarter of a mile away) is of no really great note as such wooden buildings were assembled on site from parts fabricated elsewhere. In this case the owner decided that he wanted to remain where he was on Dogpole, but to have a more solid brick building, but did not want to have the older structure destroyed. It stands at the end of the driveway/path leading to the castle.
