My 2013 Ariel Singing Doll is now fully deboxed. She is posed standing in her mermaid outfit, supported by a Kaiser doll stand. She is photographed from various angles, in diffused sunlight.
The outfit of the 2013 doll is very similar to the 2011 one, with the addition of glitter to the scale pattern on her tail, and also to her tulle tail fins and bra. There is glitter only on the bra of the 2011 doll, and it was glued on very well. On the other hand, the glitter on the tail of the 2013 doll sheds very readily. Handling her by her tail sheds blue green glitter all over your hands, the doll and whatever surface she is standing on. The tail and fins of the 2013 doll is blue green, rather than the green color of the 2011 doll. The bra is one piece, rather than the two piece of the 2011 doll, where shells were separate piece. The bra is the same shade of purple in both dolls. The bodies of the 2011 through 2013 singing Ariel dolls are the same, with the same articulation. The sound mechanism and song clip (broken into 3 parts) are also the same for all three dolls, and are sung with the same quality and volume. The head and face of the 2013 doll is the same as the 2012 doll, and the hair is still parted on the wrong side of her head (compared to the older doll and the animated Ariel). The 2013 doll's hair is the same length as the 2012 doll, but has less volume, is less curly, and doesn't have a side bang that is secured with a rubber band.
