Merida Animator Doll - Disney/Pixar Animators' Collection - First Look - Deboxed - Free Standing - Full Left Front View
My new Merida Animator Doll has been fully deboxed. She is free standing, and is photographed from all angles. Her massive head of hair prevented me from providing decent side views of her face. She is lit by diffuse natural sunlight.
When I first saw these new Animator dolls, I was not sure that I wanted to get a whole new set of them, as I have all the dolls in the original series (released in 2011). Plus I they were without their plush sidekicks, and I didn't like the glitter on the new outfits. However, I was won over when I saw them in person.
Merida's new outfit, a version of the dark blue green Adventure dress, with gold trim, and a tartan sash wrapped around her waist, looks really nice. It is covered by blue glitter that is sprayed on. The glitter does shed a little, but far less than on most of the Classic Disney Princess Dolls. Her white stockings are thicker than the shear white stocking of the original Merida toddler doll. Her shoes are a dark blue green color, matching her dress.
When I deboxed her, I found out that her hair is significantly improved over last year. Her curls are very soft to the touch, and looks great right out of the box. The only hair product used is on the hair over her forehead, to keep her hair out of her face. This is in contrast with the original doll, which had so much hair product that her hair was very stiff and hard to the touch. The doll free stands very stably.
