Loading the bottles.

Afton School partnered with the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation’s Can-Do-School program to host a school-wide one-day bottle drive on Friday, December 16.

Created by the Alberta Bottle Depot Association, the bottle drive is a Cans for Kids initiative, and will see 100 per cent of the bottle refunds go to the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Afton students, staff and community members were asked to send one or more empty beverage containers to the school. Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundatio and the Bottle Depot representatives were at the school at 10AM on December 16 to collect the cans and bottles.

The Afton Student Leadership Council coordinated this event and helped load the bottles into the Bottle Depot's big truck.

Afton is going to be featured as the Can-Do-School for the next six months at participating bottle depots across northern Alberta.

Alberta Cans for Kids hopes to raise $100,000 for the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation by encouraging people to toss drink cans into specially marked bins at Alberta’s 200 bottle depots.
