Portable Shrines

These little portable shrines -- known as 御神輿 / O-Mikoshi -- flank either side of the main hallway at the point where it intersects with the outer bridge and roof canopy.

 

Portable shrines are usually used to "carry out" the god of local shrines during shrine festivals.
