Dogwoods in Bloom

A beloved sign of spring in Yosemite, Mountain (or Pacific) dogwood usually blooms in April and May, lining the Merced River with splashes of white and green. The showy “petals” are actually bracts (modified leaves), which surround a cluster of small yellow dogwood flowers.
