Transition

These young spoonbills are at different stages of development. The one in the foreground still exhibits a partially white, feathered head; the other has lost its juvenile head feathers and now has a lime green, unfeathered head. The younger one appears to be a messy eater, judging by the vegetation on its otherwise pristine mandibles.
