Spaca Moskalyk ...Soon to Vanish!

Spaca Moskalyk has become structurally unsafe and financially cannot be repaired, so will soon be demolished. Emotional attachments, the difficulty of coming to grips with the loss, have made the decision difficult to come by, creating a challenging time.

Oct. 5,2012, I posted an image, 'First Light - Equinox at the Spaca Moskalyk'. In my comment, I wrote the following.

"A quiet moment to reflect on the beautiful architecture of this church and this morning's silhouette. I can't help but feel the loss about to affect so many people, knowing the fate of this wonderful church in the next few days.

There will be the members of the church & the people of the community who will miss this church, as it is deeply rooted in their lives. Likewise; this church has been a favourite location for many photographers. Loved for its beautiful design & lines. For the way it catches light & casts shadows. There must be thousands of photos of this sacred place. Images that have been taken any day of the year ...every season ...any time of the day or night."

After capturing this image (First Light - Equinox at the Spaca Moskalyk), I wondered if it were possible to capture photographically the feelings of loss by everyone; and the conflict of emotions & practicality influencing the decision makers.

I felt I was close or at least on the right path, when a few days later, I captured the image 'Once a Hallowed Place'. It was an important story; however, it did not express the message I was after.

So, here is another try and perhaps my last, as we suspect now that the snows have come, the collapsing & burning of the church will soon occur.

Here is, '...and, Sadness Fell Upon the Land'.
