on the long paddock
Many thanks for your visits, faves and comments. Cheers.
...on the road east we met a drover, well over 100km from home, trying to keep his cattle alive on the long paddock. They had been on the road for 26 days.
Drovers are a common sight at present in the outback, where cattle are moved along a highway corridor or stock route (colloquially known as the "long paddock") for feed to save the cattle from a severe drought. Drovers often move cattle hundreds of kilometres to areas that have had rain and there is grass to feed the herd.
