'Vanitatum Vanitas' (AKA 'Melancholia')

Posed near an ornate clock, a young, depressed-looking woman has her picture taken. It's 5.30 pm. Perhaps she couldn't wait for the weekend to start ;-) Or perhaps the weight of the false hair is giving her a headache.

 

For those who know, I have a query. The clock appears to be divided into 24 sections. Were they saying the hour 5.30 pm, as 17.30, as people in Central Europe do now, back then?
