Lifetime Dream # 143 of my list of 155: I will create and maintain an autobiography of all of my personal memories that I will be able to pass down to further generations.
I lost my last grandparent in June of 2001, my grandmother June. I lost my first grandparent, my father’s mother when I was very young- around 7. My grandfathers died within about 3 years of one another in late 1989 and early 1992. I can remember just about every detail of the deaths of all of my relatives, but I am at a loss to know many of the details of their lives. In fact what I do know about all of them, I learned after they passed away.
There is so much history and understanding about them that was just lost. As a lover of History and Genealogy, that makes me all the more sad. I began writing down my memories, categorized by the year that I am writing about. I am including everything that I can remember, from the places I went, the people I met, and the toys I played with. When I can, I include pictures. I want my kids to know everything about me that they possibly can and when I become old and senile- well, I want to remember who I was as well!
Pictured here was my first teddy bear, Henry. The wood beads around his neck came from a wood bead kit that I got for Christmas. I remember sleeping with him by my side and playing with him… though I was never so attached that my mom had to pry him out of my arms!
