Day 4997 - Day 249 - Truck Failure
Today… ugh… today… I went to get breakfast in the morning, deciding to take a day to rest my body before tackling some really long hikes on my schedule (who is this, and what happened to Chris??). After leaving the breakfast place, my truck once again made the strong jerking feeling... here we go again. I'd been through truck failure in my past, and I was left stranded in the middle of nowhere: it triggered all these emotions and feelings and it was not a good start to the day.
I made it to Starbucks where I tried to regroup and think. I called my parents and told them what was happening. I found a local mechanic, but he could not help me; he also didn't know anyone around there who could help me anytime soon. I researched Nissan dealers and the soonest I could get someone to look at it was Thursday, and the dealer was back in the city... and it was only Tuesday morning. The worst of it was that if my truck died trying to drive to the dealership on Thursday, I would have no cellular signal between Estes Park and Longmont because you have to drive through mountainous canyons and you lose signal. Not fun at all...
I managed to get the truck back to the hotel, but I couldn't go anywhere from the hotel (nothing was close or really within walking distance). I literally spent the day, sitting among these beautiful mountains, watching HGTV in my room... not the way I planned for the day to happen.
