Day 2961 - Day 39
I think we all need to find ways to motivate ourselves- to help keep us going. For me, I like to be able to “see” accomplishment, be it in some chart or in a representation of a goal- that’s just a part of me I have come to accept.
With my health and weight loss I used to set myself up for failure all the time. I would set what was usually an unrealistic goal and then when I got off track, I would set yet another unrealistic goal just to get back on the unrealistic track I had set for myself. I learned from that and quit doing that last year.
I also used to strand a bead it I did all the different things I somehow said I “should” do in a day… but that was also setting myself up for failure because it honestly was an unrealistic list to keep up with every single day.
As my journey progresses in 2017, I decided to keep up with that motivation, but I greatly simplified it. I just ask myself if I made my target for the day. That’s it. If a day comes where I miss my target, it will not be the end of the world- because in the end this is a journey to get healthy. And trust me, no journey worth taking is going to be downhill every day!
