June 29: Stage 4, Redon - Fougères, 150,4 km
MARK CAVENDISH (36) has won a stage in the Tour, after a sprint that may symbolize his career: he came back from a lost position. Doggedness, pride and euphoria: it was all in Cavendish's face as he crossed the finish line first. Yesterday's sprint contained the story of the comeback. Cavendish had to come back from far, but it worked thanks to the team. Cav couldn't reach it: “Alaphilippe is the world champion and the green jersey. And he drives full for me. We're talking about The Wolfpack and that's so much more than a wolf logo on our shirt."
It was Cav's 31st stage win in the Tour. Only the inimitable EDDY MERCKX is still ahead of him with 34 stage victories.
