1979 ELTON JOHN With Ray Cooper LIVE From Moscow

It took a while but finally "Live From Moscow 1979" by ELTON JOHN was officially released in 2020. In 2019 the album was released in a very limited edition on Record Store Day and it was immediately clear that this is a very important link in Elton John's oeuvre.

"Live From Moscow 1979" features Elton John alone behind the piano with a set of songs he co-wrote on 12 albums decades before, along with lyricist Bernie Taupin, making him one of the greatest pop / rock stars of all time worldwide. "Live From Moscow 1979" contains the recordings of a really exceptionally good concert.

When Elton was on stage at the Rossiya Hall in Moscow on May 28, 1979, it was a worldwide cultural breakthrough because this was the first concert of a western pop artist / star on the other side of the (then) Iron Curtain. The performance of Elton John came after the decision of the Russian government to give a little more openness and allow the cultural Western world something.

The concert came to the end of his worldwide famous "A Single Man tour". A tour that, with his grotesque rock shows, brought him back to the source: Elton's voice, his piano and the extraordinary songs he had written. With only loyal partner Ray Cooper in the second part as a percussionist next to it.

A concert that could be heard worldwide via the BBC.
