1963 THE BEATLES Please Please Me
Shortly before 10 a.m. on Monday 11 February THE BEATLES arrived at ABBEY ROAD STUDIOS in North London to work on their first long-playing record. Ten hours later it was all but finished. Two days later GEORGE MARTIN did a few overdubs, before the final mono and stereo masters were completed the following Monday.
Today, we instantly preface so many Beatles’ songs with, Lennon & McCartney, but on this first album only eight of the tracks are written by John and Paul, the others were mainly songs that they had been playing regularly at gigs.
"Please Please Me" was finally released on 22 March 1963 and went to No.1 on the UK album chart on 11 May and stayed there for the next thirty weeks.
The first song on the first Beatles album...

I SAW HER STANDING THERE
Music & lyrics by the Beatles, Lennon-McCartney 1963
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One, two, free, four!
Well, she was just seventeen,
You know what I mean,
And the way she looked was way beyond compare.
So how could I dance with another (ooh)
And I saw her standin' there.
Well she looked at me, and I, I could see
That before too long I'd fall in love with her.
She wouldn't dance with another (whooh)
And I saw her standin' there.
Well, my heart went boom,
When I crossed that room,
And I held her hand in mine...
Whoah, we danced through the night,
And we held each other tight,
And before too long I fell in love with her.
Now I'll never dance with another (whooh)
Since I saw her standing there
Well, my heart went boom,
When I crossed that room,
And I held her hand in mine...
Whoah, we danced through the night,
And we held each other tight,
And before too long I fell in love with her.
Now I'll never dance with another (whooh)
Since I saw her standing there
