1973 ELTON JOHN Goodbye Yellow Brick Road -The Album
GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD is the seventh studio album by ELTON JOHN. Released in 1973, it has come to be regarded as one of his best and most popular albums.
All the lyrics to the songs were written by BERNIE TAUPIN.
Recorded at the Château d'Hérouville, the double album contains the Marilyn Monroe tribute "Candle in the Wind" as well as three other successful singles: "Bennie and the Jets", "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" and "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting".
The Elton John Band at that time consisted of Nigel Olsson, Davey Johnstone and Dee Murray. Sadly Dee died in 1992; Nigel - already at EJ's first album "Empty Sky" - and Davey - since 1971 - are still in the Elton John Band today.
The price - in old Belgian francs (275 Bfr.) - is still attached on the middle cover.
