1973 PAUL MCCARTNEY & WINGS Band on the Run
BAND ON THE RUNis is an album by Paul McCartney & Wings, released in 1973.
It was Wings' third album. It became their most successful album and remains the most celebrated of Paul McCartney's post-Beatles albums.
Hit singles from the album were "Mrs. Vandebilt"", "Jet" and "Band On the Run".
Another hit "Helen Wheels" was not included on the British and European release - like this one - but was included on the American release.
The cover of the album featured a number of stars of the day posing with the band. In the words of Paul, this mish-mash of celebrity was 'a bit of a laugh.' It is a pastiche of a prison break with the figures caught in a searchlight.
So who were these faces and what has become of them? On the sleeve, band members and guest stars are all mixed up but, from left to right, they are Michael Parkinson, Kenny Lynch, Paul McCartney, James Coburn, Clement Freud, Linda McCartney, Christopher Lee, Denny Laine and John Conteh.
