Click Beetle - Athous Sp
Can often be seen in ancient woodlands with the adults sometimes feeding on hawthorn flowers. The predatory larvae develop in decaying wood in the hollows of beech and ash trees. When the adult beetle is threatened, attacked or overturned it can flick its self into the air emitting an audible click hence the name Click Beetle.
