Penstemon 'Garnet' (Beardtongue)

The largest genus of flowering plants that are endemic to North America with around 250 species. The Penstemon beardtongues can be a short-lived perennial that can suffer in the cold of winter which is why it is a good idea to take cuttings in the summer to make up for any winter losses. Will flower from May to October and will grow in part shade to full sun. Any varieties that have purple or reddish leaves will have the best looking foliage if grown in the direct sunlight.
