Lakeside Terrace, Barbican

This view looks from the podium under north-eastern end of Gilbert House at the western end of the Barbican Water Gardens. In the foreground and stretching off into the distance is the Lakeside Terrace. In the foreground the tables provide an ideal location to eat a meal ordered from the Barbican Kitchens (inside to the right), whilst beyond in the wide area is seating for just relaxing and soaking up the sun (at least on this particular day!).

To the left, beyond the lake, is the City of London School for Girls, a private school funded by the City. At the end of the lake, to the left, is a narrow perspective onto the Thomas More Gardens; on the right is the end of a terrace block, Defoe House. Beyond both is Lauderdale Tower, one of the three skyscrapers on the site.

The pink hangings on the very far right of the image are part of a temporary art installation. I think it may have still been getting installed at this point; there were certainly men climbing, working and abseiling on it when I visited. Look carefully and one of the men can be seen at the top of it.
