Sunny Chicago River Scene

A police boat can be seen loitering on the Chicago River between the DuSable Bridge (off-shot to the left) and the William P Fahey Bridge (off-shot to the right).

On the north bank of the river can be seen the Cityfront Plaza stretching off into the distance for a couple of blocks. According to the Chicago Tribune, Cityfront Plaza "was intended to be the entryway to several buildings around it. Instead it is adjacent to several ground-level parking lots." The newspaper has also said the plaza "continues to feel like a nice little park that sits incongruously atop a road".

The (small) six-storey building on the left with all the narrow vertical glass panels is the University of Chicago's Gleacher Center, part of the Booth School of Business. It is by the internationally-known architect Dirk Lohan, grandson of Mies van der Rohe. In a nod to the Chicago School of Architecture, light plays an important role in the building’s look and feel. The five-storey atrium inside, as well as the glass-enclosed lounges on the ends of each floor that extend out from the building, provide an open and airy feeling. The 50,000-square-foot venue is intended to foster the interaction of people and ideas...

Beyond the Gleacher Center can be seen the former Medinah Athletic Club built for the Shriners; on the other side of the shot can be seen a bit of the Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower) which was the world's tallest building for nearly 25 years.
