Sunny Corner

This pedestrian-only street is somewhere in Fuengirola on the southern coast of Spain. A colourful sun trap by the looks of it.

I took this and several images of similar streets during a holiday there in the early 2000s but didn't take any notes!

Fuengirola was known in ancient times as Suel and then Suhayl. It is a large town and municipality on the Costa del Sol in the province of Málaga in the autonomous community of Andalusia in southern Spain.

It is a major tourist resort, with more than 8 km of beaches and a mediaeval Moorish fortress. In common with much of this coast, it has been the subject of considerable urban development. (Sadly drowned in timeshare complexes, hotels, and villas, with all the tat that low-budget northern European holidaymakers seem to want is how I would describe much of it).

The area has a sub-tropical Mediterranean climate, with annual average temperatures of 18°C and average summer temperatures of over 30°C. It was exactly the sort of holiday I don't like, hence the lack of memory of any details. I hardly partook of the available alcohol - honest!

As a result of the above, the map location is entirely arbitrary. Scanned from a negative.
