Bluebell Wood

I went on an escorted walk around Natural England's Rostherne Mere yesterday. A varied journey along the water's edge, through the reed beds via a boardwalk, into the woodland to be greeted by carpets of Bluebells and across open fields where we came face to face with a herd of curious cows who parted as we approached to reveal the biggest Bull I have ever seen. There was a lot of nervous giggling and I had to talk a couple of walkers through but we needn't have worried and the cows soon lost interest. As you know I do a lot of walking but this one was one to be recommended, although only available a couple of times a year to preserve the area as a SSSI. I was so tired when I got home but after a chilled glass of dry white wine was soon back in fine fettle ready to face this morning's walk through Dunham Park.
