Hawk sparrow female posing with prey 11.1.2015 (1)
Despite poor light my husband more in hope than expectation put out a woodpigeon in our tiny garden to see if he could induce the female sparrow hawk to return after yesterday ‘robbery ‘ to allow me a photo opportunity.
It was so surprising to see what happened as he she flew swiftly over the garden then did a typical rapid sparrow hawk u turn and swooped into the bird which this time my husband had weighed down as yesterday she stole the bird before I could take better images.
She stayed on that pigeon for over an hour while I sat in the conservatory with doors wide open and froze but I dare not move so I had ,before she arrived ,set the camera up and had the remote in my hands and all I did was to click away as events unfolded.
These are the images that she presented and to be honest it made my day justifying getting so s cold but that ci up of tea afterwards was very welcome.
