Moms protest integration

November 1960 New Orleans integration protest. Although integration was legal and was supposed to be fully enforced by the 1960s, many people in the south still did not agree with the it. This photo shows moms picketing outside of a school in New Orleans as they begin to allow African American children to a previously all white school. This pictures proves that racism was not over with even in the 1960s. These mothers believed it was going against God to let black children learn with white children, to have their kids sitting next to black kids. It just shows that the inequality in our country was not over.

The picture shows white mothers fighting against integration. You can tell that some of them are still in pajamas out side of the school. Most of the women look extremely angry and some are even holding signs saying that integration is a moral sin. You can tell that these women actually believe that the school should not be integrated. They are all in coats which seems odd because it is New Orleans, but the majority of them are also in capris, which makes it even odder.
