My Colorful Life- Alter Ego

I am Natalie and I’m a fifteen year old girl and I am a sophomore in highschool. I have three older brothers so it was hard for me to escape from sports and video games but I did. I have an artistic flair and I am pretty creative. I love spending time with my family and friends nothing is more important to me then my mom, she is always there for me and always supports my ideas, hobbies and the stages that I go through. I love to sing, dance (in my room), draw, write, paint, and I love photography. I especially love taking pictures of nature and natural occurrences. One of my favorite types of photos is the candid portrait: It has so much meaning and flow and I feel like it’s the closest thing we have to the actual person. Knowing that you can capture something in so many different ways is amazing.

My philosophy is very basic and ranges wide. I take photos to make art, or at least attempt to. I’m not a big fan of dull, boring pictures. I like to incorporate symbols, creativity, nature, or colors to burst my photographs. I like cool, beautiful pictures that give you a feeling of awe and make you want to hang it up on your wall. I love walking around and just taking pictures of everything, especially the outdoors. There is so much beauty to this world and I feel it needs to be captured.

My traditional self-portrait is a laid back, relaxed, casual version of myself. This state I am most comfortable in. At home I look like this most of the time with fuzzy comfy pajama pants and my hair in a bun but I hardly ever look like this when I go out. This is the real me and it portrays my easy going style. This photo was very easy to take because I just set it up on a tripod and put the self timer on and the lighting I used was just a basic ceiling light.

My alter ego is not what I traditionally look like, but if I could appear like the photo and not be looked at strangely, then I would. I love color and creativity and I have a very enthusiastic look on life. I believe art is everywhere and we paint our world. I appreciate the colors in life and the reflections we have on ourselves and by having paint splattered everywhere I portray the excitement of colors and art. This photo took a long time to set up and take but I got it done. I set my camera up on a tripod but it was hard to get everything in the right position. The lighting I used was just the ceiling light. This is my alter ego, not because it’s the opposite of who I am but what I wish I could display better of my personality.
