My name is Jessica S. I prefer to be called Jess. I just like the simplicity and flow of the name. Jessica sounds too serious. Maybe it’s because that’s what I was called when I used to get in trouble as a young child. But I’m not that serious of a person. However, when it’s time to get serious and time to get to work, I’m someone to rely on. I’m a hard worker. I take my work very seriously and I always want to do a good job. That’s one of the many sides of me. Another side of me is a girl who loves to have fun and be crazy. I like to go on adventures and take risks. I don’t want to miss out on things and live with regrets so I try to do as many things as I can. A third side of me is a girl that can be shy. How can a girl who is adventurous and a risk taker be shy? Well, when I find myself in awkward situations or situations in which I don’t know people, I become reserved. I’m just not crazy when I’m by myself as I am with my family and friends.
I would say my artistic philosophy cannot be defined. I can’t quite seem to figure out why I take the photos the way I do. My goal whenever I take a photo is to try and capture it in a unique way. I want viewers to say “wow, that’s awesome!” I want other photographers to say “I would have never thought of that.” I believe I have created some unique photos in the past but I know I have to explore and open my imagination even more to create those great photos.
My second photo was the alter-ego. I had a lot of fun while shooting. It was cool to dress up as someone I’m not. I feel I used the best background possible because what better way to show a skater girl than to have her at a skate park? I also think my outfit worked out exceptionally well. The converse shoes and the jacket made the outfit. I tried out different poses for myself as a skater girl. I took shots sitting down with the skateboard, but do skateboarders really sit down? It was my goal to accomplish the task of me in motion with the skateboard. I was able to get it done and I think it turned out really well.
