Bombshell

A rare day out meant to catch the Troy Grove job yielded an unexpected surprise: UP 1943, the WWII Honoring Our Veterans Heritage Unit on point of a westbound manifest train. None of us knew this was coming, nor did we know it was leading. We received word that it was on a westbound out of Proviso less than 10 minutes before it arrived, and we didn't get confirmation it was leading until we saw it. Here it leads past the former Chicago & Northwestern depot in DeKalb, IL. With recent rumors that Union Pacific is planning to tear this depot down (despite having a newly paved parking lot and a new roof), we staged here pending the arrival of the "Grover."
