Chao Mae Tuptim Shrine
This shrine was originally dedicated to Chao Tuptim, a female animist spirit who people believe has been residing in the banyan tree next to the shrine for hundreds of years. It is said that years ago a woman came to the shrine to pray, asking for help from Chao Tuptim as she could not conceive. Nine months later she gave birth to a healthy boy. It is said that she went back to the shrine and left a carving of a large wooden penis in thanks. Over the years others have followed and the sign at the shrine states it has been associated with fertility
