YY11 UXE (speeding & tailgating)

UPDATE: Perhaps this selfish idiot is now part of another shocking statistic!

Doing exactly 50mph (on cruise control) in a 50mph zone, supposedly enforced by average speed cameras, I was overtaken by these two cars which I would estimate was doing almost at least 55mph as they passed me.

However, most shocking is the fact that the Kia driver seems to think it is safe to drive less than one full white line behind the car in front. This amounts to probably just 5 or 6 metres gap between the vehicles at around 55mph.

According to The Highway Code the braking distance alone at 50mph (i.e. less than 55mph) is 38 metres, and the total stopping distance of 53 metres is equivalent to around thirteen car lengths... which is a somewhat wider gap than that in this picture.

Perhaps the driver of the Kia feels so safe in their (probably unnecessarily) oversized armoured shell that they don't care about the safety of anyone else on the road. After all... they're alright, Jack!
