Chelsea Sugarbush Relay Station
This is a quick sketch of the Sugar Relay Station in Chelsea (Québec) which is at the Visitor Centre for the Gatineau Park. It's located next to a popular trail and is used as a warm-up cabin. Although it resembles a sugar shack from the outside, I don't believe that it has ever functioned as one. Elsewhere in the region, buildings like this are preparing for an early start in the production of maple syrup given our mild winter this year.
Voici un rapide croquis du relais sucrier de Chelsea (Québec) qui se trouve au Centre d'accueil du parc de la Gatineau. Il est situé à côté d'un sentier populaire et sert de cabane d'échauffement. Bien qu'elle ressemble de l'extérieur à une cabane à sucre, je ne crois pas qu'elle ait jamais fonctionné comme telle. Ailleurs dans la région, des bâtiments comme celui-ci se préparent à démarrer tôt la production de sirop d'érable compte tenu de notre hiver doux cette année.
