Contraforts del pont romànic de Sant Julià del Llor.
El pont de Sant Julià del Llor, popularment conegut com a Pont Vell, és al terme de Sant Julià del Llor i Bonmatí (La Selva - CAT.) i creua l'antic llit del riu Ter.
Ens trobem amb un dels millors exemples del romànic civil de la zona.
Es tracta d'un pont edificat a finals del segle XI o principis del XII, aprofitant les restes d'un anterior d'època romana, tal i com es pot veure a la base dels pilars.
Va ser construït per iniciativa del monestir d'Amer i dels senyors d'Estela per permetre el pas del riu Ter.
Curiosament en l'actualitat no hi ha cap riu que passi per sota dels seus arcs, ja que en 1777 el curs del Ter va ser desviat després d'una riuada.
El punt d'arrancada de les arcades, està àmpliament reforçat per la presència en els dos costats del pont, d'uns poderosos contraforts en forma de cunya.
D'aquests contraforts destacar especialment els de la vessant nord, els quals són molt més poderosos i robustos en comparació amb els de l'altre costat. Això es deuria al fet que pel nord era per on baixava el riu i impactava amb més força contra el pont, d'aquí la projecció d'uns poderosos contraforts en aquest costat.
D'aquesta manera les pilastres han estan reforçades per uns poderosos espigons que fan de trenca-aigües i contraforts simultàniament.

Buttresses of the Romanesque bridge of Sant Julià del Llor.
The Sant Julià del Llor bridge, popularly known as Pont Vell, is in the district of Sant Julià del Llor i Bonmatí (La Selva - CAT.) and crosses the old bed of the Ter river.
We find one of the best examples of civil Romanesque in the area.
It is a bridge built at the end of the 11th or beginning of the 12th century, using the remains of an earlier one from the Roman era, as can be seen at the base of the pillars.
It was built on the initiative of the monastery of Amer and the lords of Estela to allow the passage of the river Ter.
Curiously, at present there is no river that passes under its arches, since in 1777 the course of the Ter was diverted after a flood.
The starting point of the arcades is widely reinforced by the presence on both sides of the bridge of powerful wedge-shaped buttresses.
Of these buttresses, the ones on the north side stand out in particular, which are much more powerful and robust compared to those on the other side. This would be due to the fact that the north was where the river came down and hit the bridge with more force, hence the projection of some powerful buttresses on this side.
In this way, the Han pilasters are reinforced by powerful breakwaters that act as breakwaters and buttresses simultaneously.
