Aquesta edificació fortificada, única via d'accés al nucli antic, va ser construïda al segle XI i reformada en diverses ocasions al llarg de la història amb pedres naturals del Fluvià, el riu que travessa.

The Medieval Bridge or Old Bridge is the symbol of Besalú and probably the most emblematic image of the town.
This fortified building, the only access road to the old town, was built in the 11th century and renovated several times throughout history with natural stones from the Fluvià, the river that crosses it.
