"... molt abans del faroner, els pirates van veure en la Meda Gran l'indret estratègic per esperar el moment ideal per saquejar i robar a terra ferma.
Això sí, la vida en aquest illot no era gens fàcil. El recorregut des de l'arribada a l'embarcador es fa per un caminet al sud de l'illa i la vegetació que l'envolta –figues de moro, oliveres i canyes– evidencia la poca productivitat del sòl. El camí és costerut i en pocs minuts s'obté una vista única de l'Estartit, la desembocadura del Ter o la llarga platja de Pals.
A banda de pirates, templers, americanos i faroners, algunes famílies van intentar fer-hi vida un temps i encara s'observen les bases de les construccions, però són la fauna i la flora les que ara la tenen conquerida.
Els gavians se l'han fet totalment seva, com evidencien els milers i milers d'ossos o esquelets de gavines que s'observen en a qualsevol racó..."

"... long before the lighthouse keeper, the pirates saw in the Meda Gran the strategic place to wait for the ideal moment to plunder and steal on land.
Of course, life on this island was not easy. The route from the arrival to the pier is made by a path to the south of the island and the vegetation that surrounds it - figs, olives and reeds - shows the low productivity of the soil. The path is steep and in a few minutes you get a unique view of Estartit, the mouth of the Ter or the long beach of Pals.
Apart from pirates, Templars, Americans and lighthouse keepers, some families tried to make a living there for a while and the foundations of the buildings are still visible, but it is the fauna and flora that have now conquered it.
The seagulls have made it all their own, as evidenced by the thousands and thousands of bones or skeletons of seagulls that can be seen in any corner ... "
